Problem prevention is at the core of all our comprehensive programmes, designed with compassionate and scientifically up-to-date methods.  

We have created this concept with the main aim that pet dog enthusiasts recognise and notice what they do want their puppy to do, as opposed to being on the lookout for what their puppy is doing 'wrong', which is often the case.   

We look to empower any dog or puppy to learn more, and do better, as he will know he is on the right track.  

Remember, there is a good reason for the saying "what gets rewarded gets repeated, and what gets ignored goes away".  It is often true. 

Our Signature Puppy for Puppy Breeders Programme is all about raising physically and emotionally mature puppies and preventing as many behavioural problems as possible. The sorts of issues that may result in a dog later going into rescue or being euthanised. You create the foundations for the new guardians to build upon and your input is vital!

Discerning purchasers will want to know why they should buy a puppy from you and not another breeder. As a part of the Dog Only Knows Signature Puppies Programme, you will collect evidence of the socialisation and habituation work you have undertaken to prove how much love and care you have given your puppies.

Woodleigh Border Collies' Signature Puppies

We got the beautiful Bracken from Denise and Nigel, we’ve had him for 6 days now and we love him so much. Denise gave me daily updates of the pups from the day they were born which I loved, especially with him being my first puppy.  The training programme they do is truly amazing and I know it will really help our ongoing training.  Denise and Nigel were so helpful when we went to meet Bracken, you can see the love and care they put into their dogs.  When we picked up Bracken we got such a helpful puppy pack and lots of other helpful bits of information, they really had thought of everything and all the essentials for the journey home.  You could really tell that they want the best for their pups and their future life. Our experience from our very first communication to bringing home our perfect pup Willow has been exceptional. Denise is very knowledgeable and experienced at rearing puppies. The love she and Nigel show them is obvious. No question goes unanswered and she will do anything to help, even offering support after your puppy comes home with you. The Signature Puppy Scheme is brilliant. Puppies are exposed to new and varied experiences from birth. We were sent videos every day so we could watch Willow grow and follow her progress. We visited twice and each time were warmly welcomed by both Denise, Nigel and a group of beautifully behaved Border Collies of their own. We were encouraged to bring the dog we already had (Bobby) and Denise offered us guidance on introductions between new and old. She even sent home treats for Bobby when we finally picked up Willow.  Denise and Nigel made pick up day very special. We went home with a bag of supplies for the journey, lots of information and help. Food was supplied for Willow to get her started and most importantly we had completely the right dog for us. She is confident with a beautiful nature and we have been able to share all of her life journey so far.  We would not hesitate to recommend Woodleigh to anyone who is serious about the commitment to this beautiful, rewarding but at times challenging breed. He’s settling in so well now, really is ruling the roost! We’ve got into a lovely day and night time routine, toilet accidents are few and far between and we’re learning that when we nip, we don’t get the good tummy rubs, so we’re stopping doing that now too – fingers crossed!

In terms of feedback, I wanted to say how grateful I am for the U-TICC programme you started the pups on. We’ve had quite a number of firework displays over the weekend – we were in the garden when someone in a house over the road let fireworks off (literally at around 30m away) and save for a pause to look up from sniffing to figure out where the noise came from, he didn’t bat an eyelid.  For the bigger town displays (with constant bangs for about 15 minutes), he slept right through. He’s currently fast asleep to the sound of the school run happening outside (cars/children) and whilst he wasn’t too impressed by the bin lorry up close, neither was he terrified.  This really makes such a huge difference in not having a pup that is worried about every loud noise he hears. He would, however, make for a terrible guard dog, so it’s a good job I’ve got CCTV for that.

Buddy and I are going to do some additional 1-2-1 training sessions with a local trainer who has loads of experience with collies – not because of any issues, but to make sure we’re both set up for lifelong success. He has his second jabs booked in for Friday and soon after, we’ll be hitting the streets and starting to get our walking paws on!

"They had the fireworks last night and he wasn't fussed at all. Been a superstar. He slept through on Friday night. Can't believe how well he has settled. So confident and happy to take everything in. Thank you both so much for all the time you put in with them. Total credit to you both. I took him round the site (*they were camping) last night and he just watched and listened to everything".
