It is important to know when behavioural modification is required and when obedience training is required. Whilst intertwined, they are different.

Training is all about teaching our dogs cues like sit, leave, drop and stay.  Important skills that help dogs live in our very demanding world and we can make this fun for us and our dogs using games and rewards.

Behaviour modification is more about establishing why a dog is feeling the way he does and changing that feeling. For example, why is a dog barking and lunging at the other dogs he sees on his walks and what can we do to help him feel happier and more relaxed around other dogs?

If you need help deciding which service is most appropriate please email me on contact@junepennell.co.uk. Please include a brief description of the situation and your telephone number, so I can ring you to discuss the options available.

Zoom Behavioural Advice Consultations £75

These 60 minute behavioural advice sessions are popular with clients who would like to gain a better understanding of what might be causing their dog's unwanted behaviour, and more about the changes needed to help improve the situation.

I will send you a questionnaire for you to complete and return, and once received, I will contact you to arrange a suitable time for our meeting which can be either via Zoom or in a suitable social distanced outdoor venue.

After the meeting, I will send you brief action plan summarising the suggestions made in the meeting.

I will support you for 3 months following the meeting while you implement the suggestions in the plan.

New Puppy Consultations £50

Getting a new puppy is an incredibly wonderful time but it can also be stressful coping with their boundless energy and enthusiasm for life! Even before your puppy is able to go outside, there is so much they can learn.

So, defintely worth setting them up for success from the start!

I can help you with:

  • Toilet training
  • Play biting, mouthing and chewing
  • Building up time your puppy can be left alone
  • Crate training
  • Jumping up
  • Exercise requirements and restrictions
  • Diet, nutrition and feeding routines
  • How to foster calmness, relaxation and a good sleep routine
  • Constructive interaction with children, people and other dogs

You can give your puppy a fabulous head start by starting the training techniques as soon as they arrive. After the initial Zoom consultation, which is usually around 60 minutes long, I will send you a bespoke puppy training plan which will also include links to suitable equipment and helpful videos and websites.

I will support you via email or Zoom for three months after our meeting.

Training Sessions (Puppies & Adults) £35 per hour

One hour 1-2-1 socially distanced outdoor sessions (or via Zoom), teaching you the basics of how to have fun teaching your puppy or adult dog how to be calm, to sit, stand, stay, how to walk on a loose lead and, of course, to come when called.

These basic cues can help to build focus, confidence and develop the relationship you have with your dog.  We will move on to more complicated trick training (which teach dogs self-control, calmness and improve self-confidence).

For reactive dogs, I can show you how to desensitise your dog to the sight of others dogs. However, it would be better to establish what is behind the behavior and then work to make a more positive associations with how your dog feels when seeing other dogs on their walks.

Behavioural Modification Package £195

It is important that you and I get to understand fully what may be causing your dog's more serious behavioural issues. We will spend around 2 -3 hours via an initial Zoom meeting discussing all aspects of your dog's history and behaviour before making an assessment on possible causes and devising an action plan to modify the behaviour.

What to expect:

  • I will send you a questionnaire to complete to start off the information gathering;

  • We will then hold the initial consultation via Zoom, the recording of which will be sent to you after the meeting;

  • I will produce a bespoke written Behaviour Modification Plan which will include a detailed action plan filled with fun games, scientifically proven behaviour modification advice and modern fear-free training techniques;

  • Two additional Zoom or socially distanced outdoor follow-up sessions;

  • I have a library of videos, photographs, games instruction sheets that I can share with you and I can demonstrate training techniques;

  • You will receive follow-up support by telephone, email or Zoom for 3 additional months after our sessions end.

I am sure that together we can tailor a package suitable for your individual needs and your budget as part of our initial telephone conversation or meeting. I am more than happy to talk with you about tailoring a specialist package that is right for you, your dog and your budget.

There is no extra charge for multiple dogs provided they live in the same home.
